Fasteners

The world of fasteners is a wide one. There are lots of brands, versions and styles out there. And almost as many opinions on which one is best. The good news is that redwood is a very versatile and easy to work with wood, so it will work with just about any decking fastener. And because it resists cracking and splitting, it takes nails and screws well, too.

The best advice we can give you is to try and match the quality of your deck and your aspirations with the fasteners. Those looking for the highest grade should choose a quality stainless steel fastener, followed by double-dipped galvanized. Coated steel fasteners are a slightly cheaper alternative, but during installation and over time, the coating can come off. Your builder or your local contracting yard are also good sources of advice and opinions.
