Over 120 years of learning is behind you.

No matter what your outdoor project, when you choose to work with products from The California Redwood Company, you get the unique benefit of a company whose history goes back to 1890. And that history is a rich one, with deep family and community roots, and a commitment to constant improvement to, not just our products, but the employees and the resources that make them possible.

How much innovation can be in a board?

You might not notice it at a quick glance, but there’s an abundance of thinking that goes into each and every board and product we make. Decade after decade, The California Redwood Company has led our industry in new advancements and technology applications in everything from milling equipment to progressive board designs. We were the first in the redwood industry to electronically scan its logs and boards to ensure the best cut. And at the same time we’re improving our products, we’re looking for new ways to reduce our energy and water use. Today, everything, from the bark to the chips to the sawdust is used. Nothing is wasted. Even the boiler used to dry our boards runs on bio‐mass fuel created from the leftover wood particles.

The wood company that’s really a people company.

Our mission isn’t simply to create the best redwood products on the market. It’s also to do so in ways that both honor and support the people who make it happen. And that means safety practices and work environments beyond simply what the regulations require. It means investing in resources and education that offer our employees not just a job, but an opportunity for growth and advancement. And most importantly, it means managing our company not to the quarterly tune of Wall Street, but to the strong and steady beat of a 120‐year‐old company.

More than a passing commitment to sustainability.

We want to create the best products, today. We also want to create the best products in 2050. And perhaps it’s that long‐term view that has made us so focused on ensuring the wood we purchase originates from a sustainable forestry model. In fact, virtually all of the logs we purchase come from the Green Diamond Resource Company, a sister company that is known for its long‐term commitment to environmental stewardship.
