Sustainable Forestry
Replanting & Regrowth

Healthy, sustainable forestry makes not only environmental sense, but is good business. Practicing sustainable forestry ensures a steady supply of timber for the future, allowing foresters to concentrate on long-term goals.

California Redwood Company purchases most of its logs from Green Diamond, a company that harvests less than two percent of its timberlands annually, meaning the average stand is cut just once every 50 to 70 years. This rotation allows timberlands to mature and remain free of frequent disruptions.

Green Diamond replants an average of about 1,000,000 seedlings by hand annually, ensuring forests for generations to come. In addition, a portion of the seedlings produced by Green Diamond are sold to other timber companies to restock their timberlands, thus helping to ensure forests continue to grow on other lands throughout the region.
